LUCENA CITY — A drug suspect was killed, two others were wounded and two were arrested early Tuesday, Jan. 21, in a buy-bust operation that led to an armed encounter in Calamba City, Laguna, the police said.

Cops also seized more than P13 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) during the operation, the Police Region 4A (PRO-4A) said in a spot report.

The report said operatives from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit and local policemen conducted a drug bust operation in the parking lot of a gasoline station in Barangay Turbina at 1:55 a.m.

The drug sting led to an armed confrontation between lawmen and the five alleged traffickers, where one of the suspects identified as “Mark” died.

Two other suspects, “Awen,”and “Ron,”suffered bullet wounds and were taken to the hospital for treatment, Lieutenant Colonel Chitadel Gaoiran, PRO-4A public information officer, told the Inquirer in a text message.

The spot report did not provide details of the supposed armed encounter. No casualties were reported on the government side.

The arrested suspects were identified as “Princess” and “Kevin.”

The operatives confiscated from the suspects two sealed plastic bags containing shabu weighing 2,000 grams with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P13,600,000.

The lawmen also seized another plastic bag containing “kush” or high-grade marijuana leaves. The report did not provide the value of the confiscated marijuana.

The government forces recovered from the suspects three pistols – one caliber .9mm, one caliber .45, and one caliber .40 – four magazines and several bullets.
